Alyisha Waz, Officiant
About Alyisha & Rabbit Rabbit Weddings
By weekday, I work as a Children’s Librarian in a spooky, historic building protected by gargoyles.
By weekend (or anytime by special request), I’m hoping to officiate your wedding!
I’m sure you’ve vividly imagined many aspects of your day: the twinkly lights, the delicious food, the eclectic playlist, the amazingly talented & bearded photographer — and, of course, the devoted partner by your side.
What might be a little murkier for you is what the ceremony itself will look like (and who will perform it). You may feel pretty strongly about what you don’t want…but what about what you do? That’s where I come in. You’ve put so much thought into every other detail of your wedding; why not your ceremony?
Experience & Background
I’m uniquely qualified to help you create a custom, bespoke ceremony that reflects who you are as a couple and as individuals. I’ve been an ordained minister through the Universal Life Church since 2018. And, in January 2024, I’ll graduate from CF&I as a certified Life-Cycle Celebrant with a diploma in Marriage Celebrancy. I also hold degrees in both English Literature and Religious Studies. What this means, alongside my day job, is that I’m deeply invested in the power of story. I’ll use this interest — and my training, education, and experience — to write your Love Story. Then, with your consent, I’ll share your story with your gathered friends and family on the day of your wedding. This helps everyone to feel treasured, included, and in-the-know.
Your Ceremony
Whether I’m inventing a coffee ritual inspired by your caffeine addiction, collecting native seashells for a beachside blessing, or working your favorite Notorious B.I.G. lyrics into your vows, I’ll be doing it with YOU in mind.
My goal is to work with you to co-create a ceremony that is memorable, comfortable, and an expression of your shared spirit. Sacred or secular, public or private, silly or serious, I’ve got your back. I’ll get you legally married…with meaning and intention.
On the day of your wedding, I want you to feel present and connected. Your ceremony shouldn’t be rote or something to suffer through ‘til you can get to “the real party.” It should BE a real party: an intimate celebration of your love.
